NOTE TO END USER. THIS E-MAIL CONTAINS A PLACE FOR YOUR HOSTGATOR AFFILIATE LINK

Subject: [firstname] Get your website organized!

Hey [firstname]!

Once you've got your domain registered, it's time to find a place to host it. You'll need to register your domain FIRST, as you'll need to provide the details to your hosting company so they can set things up.

When choosing a hosting provider, there are several things you'll want to look for

First of all, they'll need to be reliable. Most hosting companies claim 99% uptime, but ask around to make sure this is the case. Another consideration is how good their customer support is. Obviously, if your website goes down, you'll want to get it back up and running again ASAP, so look for 24/7 support

To begin with, hosting your website on shared hosting is the best way to go. With this, you simply rent space on a web server (basically a computer permanently connected to the Internet) whose hard disk has been partitioned up and rented out to lots of different customers. This helps to keep your start-up costs low. Later, when your website starts taking up more space, you may want to upgrade to a virtual private server (VPS) or a dedicated server. Not only will these give you more space, but also your own IP address.

A popular hosting provider is Hostgator [YOUR HOSTGATOR AFFILIATE LINK] which offers a wide variety of choices.

Next, you'll need a platform on which to build your website. WordPress is a good choice because it's so versatile. It started out as a rather clunky blogging platform, but it has evolved into a fully fledged content-management system. Best of all, it's open source and free! You can customize WordPress by adding plugins basically pre-written pieces of code that can transform your site into just about anything you want really: Blog site, simple sales site, membership site, shopping cart the works!

You can install WordPress from Cpanel in just a few clicks. Then choose a theme (there are lots of free ones available) and you're ready to roll.
